Poached Pears with Bay Leaf
Delight your dinner guests with this easy poached pear recipe! The bay leaf adds an interesting flavor to the pear's sweetness.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups orange juice
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 4 ripe Anjou or Bosc USA Pears, peeled
- Fresh bay leaf to garnish
Directions
Combine orange juice, water, brown sugar, bay leaves, and nutmeg in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring well to mix. Add pears. Cook over high heat to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Discard bay leaves. Serve pears with juice in individual bowls. Garnish with bay leaves.
